Today at The Energy Healing Conference in Tempe, a speaker offered a teaching so simple, yet so piercingly wise, that it landed in my body like truth I had always known:
Dr. Tricia Pingel said, “When faced with a challenge, ask yourself: Is this in my control? And is it worth my energy? Then choose — deal with it, delegate it, or let it go.”
This deceptively simple question was more than a strategy. It was an invitation back to sovereignty — the ability to lovingly choose where your energy flows instead of being swept into old patterns of fear, frustration, or emotional fatigue. And that’s when I realized: everything I’ve been studying, teaching, and living comes back to this same fundamental principle…
Joy requires energetic discernment. And energetic discernment becomes possible only when the nervous system is at peace.

When the Nervous System Learns to Relax, the Soul Speaks More Clearly
A few weeks ago, I watched a video about training the nervous system to soften into alignment. The message was clear: Your nervous system defaults to fear-based patterns unless you actively teach it safety, openness, and coherence. Watch that video HERE.
This resonated so deeply with what I’ve learned from years of yoga, meditation, and personal transformation. Our bodies carry memories. Our breath reveals our emotional truth. Our subtle energy either contracts from life or opens toward it.
Dr. Joe Dispenza says, “Your personality creates your personal reality. Change your energy, and you change your life.”
But he also emphasizes something most people skip: You cannot change your energy from a dysregulated nervous system. It must be softened, opened, recalibrated. Which brings me to the tool that tied all of this together tonight…
The Thread That Connects It All: Devotional Practice
Later this evening I heard one of my favorite YouTubers speak about the real key to a joyful life: A daily commitment to devotional meditation, gratitude, and heart-opening love for life. This is not just visualization. Not just mindset. Not merely meditation as a task on a self-care checklist. This is devotion — the returning, again and again, to the sweetness of your own being.
Rumi wrote, “What you seek is seeking you.”
But devotion teaches us that what we are seeking isn’t “out there.” It blooms through inner consistency, presence, and surrender.
Patanjali, in the Yoga Sutras, frames it simply: “Practice becomes firmly grounded when well attended to for a long time, without break, and with devotion.”
Devotion is the bridge between intention and transformation.
A New Breathing Technique for Soul Alignment
In a recent YouTube interview on Next Level Soul with psychic medium and channel, Sonia Choquette, I learned a beautiful new breathing technique – one that surprised me with its simplicity and depth. It is a four-point breath that harmonizes body, mind, heart, and higher consciousness.
Here is the sequence:
- Breathe into your heart space and pause. Breathe out and release any tension in your body.
- Breathe down into your feet and pause. Breathe out and release any thoughts that might be scaring or upsetting you. Feel grounded, embodied, present.
- Breathe into your third eye and pause. Breathe out and release any tension you are holding in your jaw and skull. Awaken inner vision.
- Breathe into the highest point you can imagine — the light above, your Higher Self, the Universe, or God — and pause. Breathe out and release anything else you are grasping or resisting.
This breathing technique feels like a prayer. A remembering. A gentle conversation with the soul.
Sonia Coquette channeled, (I’m paraphrasing) We have access to the breath, which gives us a direct access to our souls. Watch the full interview HERE.
When practiced with devotion, it softens the edges of the mind and creates what the Institute of HeartMath calls Heart Coherence — the state where intuition flows, clarity returns, and the nervous system shifts into harmony.
Joy as a Devotional Choice
At today’s conference, Dr. Pingel reminded us: “Joy isn’t an accident. It’s something you activate.”
And joy is activated through:
✨ Discernment
✨ Nervous system regulation
✨ Breath
✨ Gratitude
✨ Devotional meditation
✨ Surrender
✨ Heart opening
Abraham-Hicks teaches, “The greatest gift you can ever give is your own happiness.”
But happiness cannot be forced. It must be cultivated, tended, invited. Joy is a frequency you return to by choice — a practice, not a personality trait. And every tool I heard today, every teaching from YouTube, every reminder from my own spiritual lineage pointed to the same truth:
You are closest to your true self when you are calm, open, grateful, and breathing with intention.
Devotion Is the Path Home
All of this led me to a soft realization tonight:
- My devotion is my alignment.
- My alignment is my joy.
- My joy is my offering to the world.
Sri Ramana Maharshi said, “Your own Self-Realization is the greatest service you can render the world.”
When I’m devoted to peace within myself, I contribute peace to the collective. When I breathe into my heart, I breathe more compassion into humanity. When I align with my soul, I walk in my purpose. And when I choose joy — not bypassed, not forced, but cultivated through devotion ~ I become a vessel of love in motion.
Final Reflection
Ask yourself every morning:
- What deserves my energy today?
- What supports my peace?
- What opens my heart?
Then breathe – into the heart, into the earth, into your inner vision, and into the infinite.
Let joy rise from the inside out.
Namaste,
~S
