Embodying the Path of the Self-Healing Specialist

by Stephanie Bucklin

Over the past year, I’ve been experiencing something called Neurogenic Tremors. They showed up unannounced, like a whisper from my nervous system trying to speak. For me, they didn’t begin right after trauma—but arrived later, as part of a delayed stress response after a car accident. The term Complex PTSD fits my journey well. It acknowledges the layers of trauma accumulated over time, and it is this layered healing that I’ve been committed to navigating this past year.

But the story doesn’t begin there.

Chronic Pain and the Long Road of Healing

My chronic pain journey began over two decades ago, in 2003. Since then, life has included scoliosis, several car accidents, falls, and the slow erosion of ease in my physical body. In 2018, after a hysterectomy, the numbness and neurological symptoms intensified. It was like the volume turned up on an already loud signal.

This is why I call myself a Self-Healing Specialist. Not because I’ve mastered it all, but because I’ve learned—through necessity and grace—how to support my own healing with intuitive wisdom, ancient tools, and an unwavering belief in the body’s ability to repair and renew.

Intuitive Healing Tools: Energy and Spirit First

I often begin with energy. Reiki, crystals, chakra cleansing, and sage are part of my daily life. I also work with a modality called Quantum Key Healing, which combines energy work with EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique). These tools help me shift emotions, release fear, and stay in touch with my inner guidance.

I believe in the power of intention. Prayer, meditation, gratitude, and positive affirmations create the environment for healing. As Dr. Joe Dispenza says, “Your personality creates your personal reality.” That includes thoughts, emotions, and how we process our inner world. If I can shift my internal state, I can influence my physical experience. And that’s what I strive to do, every day.

Physical Healing: Commitment to the Body

On the physical level, I wear LifeWave X39 and X49 patches—tools that support stem cell activation and cellular repair. I hydrate deeply, nourish my body with high-quality nutrients, and walk daily. Walking reconnects me with my breath and rhythm, and helps discharge nervous energy.

I’m also in physical therapy weekly. Somatic movement and gentle yoga are finding their way back into my daily rhythm. For me, yoga is less about poses and more about listening—tuning in to sensation, breath, and what my body is asking for in each moment.

I avoid pharmaceuticals as much as possible and instead, rely on natural remedies and intuitive body care. The wisdom of Hippocrates echoes here: “Let food be thy medicine, and medicine be thy food.”

Emotional and Mental Health: Rooted in Resilience

True healing doesn’t happen in isolation. I work closely with a crisis counselor who’s guiding me through Internal Family Systems therapy and helping me make decisions rooted in my deepest values. This work is subtle, tender, and powerful. It’s helping me rewire not only how I think—but how I feel safe being me.

Supportive friendships, positive mindset practices, and staying aligned with my truth are all part of this path. I know now that healing isn’t linear. It’s a spiral. And every loop brings deeper insight, compassion, and strength.

Final Thoughts: Healing Is a Sacred Practice

To anyone walking a similar path, know this: you are not broken. Your symptoms are messengers, not enemies. Your pain has purpose, and your body remembers how to heal.

I believe in self-healing not as a concept, but as a daily devotion. It’s a journey of reclaiming wholeness. As Bessel van der Kolk writes in The Body Keeps the Score, “Trauma is not what happens to you. Trauma is what happens inside you as a result of what happens to you.” Healing, then, is about what happens inside you after—and that, you can influence.

So I keep showing up. I keep choosing love over fear. I keep listening.

Because I am the medicine. And so are you.
